Osteotherapy
Whole-body manual therapy — including cranial osteopathy — that restores mobility and proper mechanics.
Call (310) 444-1177Osteopathy is a manual therapy with the goal of restoring mobility and proper mechanics to the whole body, including joints, muscles, the nervous system and fascia. An osteopath assesses the body front to back and top to bottom, detecting areas of restricted movement through palpation and movement testing.
Cranial osteopathy
Cranial osteopathy is a specialist area focused on restoring fine movement of the cranial bones and releasing tension in the fascia surrounding the brain and nervous system, which can help circulation of cerebrospinal fluid. It was developed by William G. Sutherland in the 1930s.
How it differs from craniosacral therapy
Cranial osteopathy is part of a full osteopathic treatment of the whole body. Craniosacral therapy, which was developed separately, treats only the cranial-sacral system and involves a shorter, more narrowly-scoped course of study.
